Shopping Sites
Ok, everyone knows about the big shopping sites like Amazon and eBay, both of which I frequent. But here is a list of great internet shopping from some smaller sites. Much of the focus is on sustainability and minimal environmental impact, but the goods are also high quality.
- Faerie's Dance
- My NEW favorite clothing store is, of course, the one I just opened! Blue Canoe used to be my favorite, but now I carry their line - and at discounted prices, too. Come in and visit, and please let me know what you think.
- Gaiam
- An online environmental "department store". I've bought some of their furniture, which is expensive, but well made and comfy. They have a line of organic cotton clothing, and they own Living Arts, the company that makes all the yoga products and videos. (I guess I should mention that I own stock in the company.)
- Blue Canoe
- My old favorite clothing store. Their clothes are always soft and cozy. All of their clothes are made of organic cotton, and it's a small, woman-owned, sustainable company. They also have fabulous customer service. I have never been disappointed. (Now I carry most of their line at my own shop, FaeriesDance.com.)
- Under The Canopy
- An upscale, envrionmental clothing company. They have some hard to find things in earth-friendly fabrics, although they also have a few leather products. A bit expensive, but good selection.
- Pangea and Vegan Essentials
- Two great vegan stores. So far, I've only tried the food (ok, mostly just the candy section). The "Hawaiian Heaven" truffles by Givere are TO DIE FOR! Both sites carry them.
Charities
Picking my favorite charity is close to impossible. There are simply too many organizations doing great work to list them all. So, I've decided to list just one that doesn't actually require donations.
- The Rainforest Site
- A great online charity that lets you save rainforest land for free by clicking on their site. Also linked to several other click-for-free charity sites. Go clicking!

- A travel website with other folks' stories about taking long term leaves and traveling the world.
- Round the World Travel Guide
- Everything you need to consider when deciding if an extended world tour is for you.
- Psimancz
- A geeky, role-playing game website designed by our friends Scott, Jason and Sean.
